On a special crossover podcast episode of Invent Penn State’s “Dare to Disrupt” and Schreyer Honors College’s “Following the Gong,” Dare to Disrupt host Ryan Newman and Associate Vice President for Research James Delattre talk about the entrepreneurial scene at Penn State. 

A cutting-edge health monitoring device took home the top prize in the fifth annual Start Up Lehigh Valley pitch competition held Oct. 25 at Factory LLC in Bethlehem. The event was sponsored in part by the Penn State Lehigh Valley LaunchBox. Tina Q. Richardson, Penn State Lehigh Valley chancellor, presented $4,500 in prizes on behalf of the Lehigh Valley Launchbox — a $3,000 Founders Award and three $500 Boost Awards.

The Altoona LaunchBox supported by the Hite family will present the “Is My Business Bankable” webinar from 12:05 to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov.14, via Zoom. Terry Powers, senior vice president and regional manager at M&T Bank, will help participants determine what they need to do to improve the financial profile of their business.

McKeesport community member Shalay Williams, with support from Mon Valley LaunchBox powered by Penn State Greater Allegheny, provides CPR certification classes to her local community through her business, Care Heart CPR.

A conference designed to arm small businesses with the knowledge to defend themselves against potential cyberattacks will be held at Penn State Hazleton on Wednesday, Nov. 15. It is free and open to the public.

Global Entrepreneurship Week Penn State, scheduled for Nov. 13-19, is a collaborative weeklong event between the university and local communities, featuring presentations, workshops, and networking opportunities geared specifically to entrepreneurs, local startups, innovators, and those interested in thinking outside the box.

Penn State student startup teams from University Park and all Commonwealth Campuses are invited to enter their startup into the Invent Penn State Inc.U Competition for a chance to compete for a $30,000 prize pool.

The Harrisburg LaunchBox, powered by Penn State will host the Truist Empowered Entrepreneurs Executive Series at Penn State Harrisburg this fall. The series will kickoff on Oct. 25 with a panel discussion “A Thriving Region,” featuring guest speaker Norman Bristol-Colón, Pennsylvania’s first chief diversity officer.
